School Programs Conference

Dr. Gerard Fryer of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center giving presentation on "Tsunamis: Distant and Local" at the Koolau Ballroom on O'ahu.

The Tsunami Schools Conference on O'ahu took place on August 31, 2012. The purpose was to train school administrators in the basic concepts of the incident command system; provide participants with the basic principles of tsunamis, both distant and locally generated; and to facilitate networking with local community first responders. Donna Saiki, former Pacific Tsunami Museum (PTM) Director, gave a presentation about the Museum's mission. Other speakers were from State and County Civil Defense; the Director of DOE Safety, Security, and Emergency; and a geophysicist from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
