1975: Halape and Punalu’u, Hawaii

Photo upper left shows Scout Troop 77 just before embarking on their hike down to Halape. On November 29, 1975, two days after this photo was taken, tsunami waves washed over their camp site. Dr. James “Mitch” Mitchel (4th from left) and a fisherman, Michael Cruz (not pictured), were killed.
